I was born in 1947, the year of the Roswell UFO crash.  One of my father’s military duties as base intelligence officer was to act as a district or regional investigator for the Air Force’s Project Bluebook.  By the time I was ten years old my eyes had been widened by Saturday morning movie matinee double features about alien invasions, radiation mutated giant insects, werewolves, vampires and zombies.

Somewhere in middle school I began reading books about, myths, legends and lore.  Drawn by the strange creatures I spent hours, poorly crafting imaginary monsters with my number two pencil.

In the fifty something years between now and then, I remained a sucker for any strange tale.  I spent a weekend camped out along Spirit Lake on Mt. St. Helens.  I have trolled the waters of Loch Ness and two other lakes claiming famous monsters.  I spent as much time as possible visiting American Indian and Mayan ruins.  I stood beneath the great trilithons at Stonehenge and watched the rising sun mark the altar in Newgrange.  Today I am no less likely to fall for a well spun tall-tale of undiscovered creatures or newly discovered mysterious ruins of lost civilizations.  I want to believe and so I do.
